ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:

Invest Ontario is seeking a resourceful and detail-oriented Investment Site Selection Advisor with a strong solution-focused, project management orientation. This is a key position with high levels of responsibility, internal visibility, and impact across all business lines of the organization.

As the Site Selection Advisor, you will be responsible for conducting research and analysis, identifying potential site locations, and providing support for business development activities. The Site Selection Advisor will work closely with the team lead to ensure that all targets are met on time and within budget.

SUMMARY OF JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Stakeholder Relationships

  • Develop and maintain partnerships with a network of stakeholders (e.g., federal, provincial, and municipal jurisdictions) to enable consultation and intelligence gathering and to facilitate discussion, collaboration, and the development of site selection activities for potential investment clients.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including economic development organizations, site selectors, real estate brokers, developers, and government officials.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all necessary information is obtained for site selection analysis.

Site Selection Services and client servicing

  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and teams within IvO to facilitate and coordinate IvO investment activities in the province.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify potential site locations, including demographic data, market trends, and site suitability.
  • Provide support to the investment servicing teams in developing and implementing site selection strategies.
  • Prepare and develop site selection proposals and presentations.
  • Develop and implement site selection strategies that are aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
  • Analyze data and market trends to identify potential site locations and evaluate site suitability.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that all necessary information is obtained for site selection analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of site selection activities and results, including GIS database development.
  • Provide regular updates to the site selection team lead on progress and any issues encountered.
  • Participate in business development activities as needed, including site visits and client meetings.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, geography, urban planning / land use planning or related field.
  • 2 years’ experience working in site selection, economic development, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in site selection, land-use planning, economic development, or investment attraction is an asset.
  • G license is a must.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent knowledge of the government’s economic development policies and strategies that address Ontario’s competitive advantages for investment attraction purposes.
  • Understands the ecosystem and market both in Ontario, and internationally and stays apprised of current developments and future trends.
  • Ability to organize and track overlapping tasks, with frequent priority changes and aggressive timelines.
  • Ability to process and assess large amounts of information.
  • Has a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Entrepreneurial with a client-minded focus.
  • Technical proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and work-specific software.
  • Additional languages spoken an asset.
