Invest Ontario Hamilton, Ontario Mitchel Sivilotti: OmniaBio is a contract development and manufacturing organization... Narrator: Mitchel Sivilotti, CEO - OmniaBio Mitchel Sivilotti: ...we’re focused in selling gene therapy, and we provide services to companies that are in pre-clinical, clinical development and commercial manufacturing. Narrator: Catalyzing Ontario as a life sciences hub with new biomanufacturing facility Mitchel Sivilotti: We’re creating the largest cell and gene therapy CDMO or commercial manufacturing facility in Canada. It's solving and providing solutions for some intractable diseases that previously didn't have treatments. Narrator: Toronto, Ontario Paula Resende: This investment wasn't an investment in a company. It's really an investment in an ecosystem. Narrator: Paula Resende, Investment Project Lead - Invest Ontario Paula Resende: What this will mean for a ton of new cell and gene therapy companies that are coming here is that they have the means of commercializing these products, getting them out to patients in our own backyard and getting it to patients across the world. And that in itself is bolstering Ontario's significance in life sciences more and more. Mitchel Sivilotti: Well, the Invest Ontario investment in OmniaBio was primarily a financial investment, but it really went beyond that. They had the ability to help us share awareness about our organization, but also getting the industry excited about what's happening in Ontario. In Ontario, there's just great value. There's a very healthy talent pool. There's great academic institutions that are producing highly skilled staff that would go either into research or into manufacturing. Another element of Ontario that we found over time is the access to government support that supported research and development programs, development of our, you know, major departments within our organization, and also to build out that infrastructure that we've been, you know, working on in Hamilton here for, for a few years now. The technologies that we're working on today are going to have a major impact. We're going to change lives together in this.
